User Experience for a Better World

The Value of Being Certified or "The Proof is in the Pudding"

I earned my certification in July. I say earned because they don't give the certification away and you can't buy it. In addition to that I paid for the courses myself.

Today is my last day on a project that has returned more in earnings than what
the courses cost me. I was contacted by a recruiter “out of the blue” for this
position because of my certification. I secured this project because of what I
can deliver.

As I was reflecting on what I will do next week, the phone rang once again. It
was a recruiter that I had never worked with before (out of the blue). They
wanted to talk with me about a 6 month position they were recruiting for that
they felt I was a qualified for. The next sentence out of their mouth reminded
me of the value of being certified. “I saw your certification and wanted to
talk more with you about this position”.

The proof is in the pudding, the certification is proof of what I earned. And my bank account is proof of the R.O.I.

I have a lot more to learn, tons more to experience and it’s all going to happen with the biggest smile on my face. I guess you could say I am certified happy!

Do you have a story to tell like mine? If so, I'm all ears.

Hi Art

You are absolutely right in your ststement. This certification does elevates you few places up.

But one should never forget this can never be an end to iteself.

This is like the master dragging a horse to a pond to drink water. I would term we PEOPLE are the Horse and HFI's CUA is the MASTER and the WATER the USABILITY SPACE. They have shown the path to the water and now it depends on how much and how well we all can quench the thrist ie., use and grow further...both the spaace and we ourselves.

Hope you would agree with me on this too.
