Usability/ Human Factors Engineer

 

Anticipated Duration of project/assignment: 9+ months 
Location: work from home, US Work location required 

Responsibilities
- Serves as lead UI/Human Factors practitioner on information technology development team, responsible for the usability of multiple web applications, web portals and web sites and some mobile applications. 
- Designs and conducts remote usability evaluations in multiple geographies using screen sharing and voice conferencing software. 
- Performs requirements gathering activities and user profile analysis through the use of structured interviews and surveys. 
- Documents and authors Use Case documents detailing user interaction workflows. 
- Creates wire-frame and high fidelity UI mockups according to requirements and customers design standards. 
- Identifies and corrects usability issues through heuristic analyses, cognitive walkthroughs, and usability test evaluations. These activities included authoring the test plan, identifying and scheduling participants, data analysis, and authoring test report and associated mockups. 

Required skills
- The candidate must have proven knowledge of prototyping software, such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Balsamiq, Visio or Visual Basic. 
- Excellent communications skills (written & oral), presentations negotiation and time management. 
- Candidates MUST HAVE PhD or Master’s degree, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Human Factors Engineering or Human-Computer Interaction.
- An applied knowledge in a variety of information technology tools and system architectures. 
- Must be able to quickly learn and apply User Centered Design principals, standards and work products as used within the account and within various development methodologies (waterfall, agile, etc.).
