Hi Divya, as far as i know, CUA has not caught up here. Other organisations here do offer some training, however i don't believe it is as thorough as HFI's CUA.
There is a CHISIG group here in Australia for usability professionals that is quite active. You can look it up on the net and join.
A certification is nice to have. However ultimately I think that its the experience coupled with skills that really matters rather than a certification.
Hi Divya, all the organisations have their own strengths and areas of expertise and it would be wrong on my part to try to rate or rank them.
The best place to work for you would depend on what you want from and where you want to steer your career as well as how well your values gel with those of the organisation.
As for salaries, as i understand, avg salaries for a UI designer with one-two yrs experience is in the range of AUD 50-55 K per annum.
There are a fair number of organisations in Melbourne working in this domain. to name a few - Hiser, Stamford Interactive, Usability One, Eclipse
HFI is recognised and acknowledged by most of them, however i am not entirely certain the importance given to CUA especially as HFI is a competitor to most of the above mentioned
