User Experience for a Better World
Information protection: Research in Motion has unveiled a new free security application called BlackBerry Protect that allows you to wipe, lock or locate a lost device from a PC.

Users can erase their information on a phone, lock it or locate the device on a map. You will also be able to activate a ringer to find the device, or you can put a message on the lockscreen so the finder of the phone can contact you. You can also back up your contacts, calendar, tasks, browser bookmarks and text messages over Wi-Fi, or easily port over your info to a new BlackBerry.

BlackBerry Protect will be available in Limited Beta later this week, and available via Open Beta later this year.
The BlackBerry maker also has released a video on its forthcoming 6.0 operating system, expected by September. The video emphasizes the slicker user interface, universal search, the Web kit browser with pinch to zoom, social network integration and a better experience for media consumption.
